D.O.G.S., Inc. is a small organization dedicated to making a difference for neglected, abused and unwanted animals. We rescue dogs (and puppies) from "death row" at various shelters, get all vetting done and help them to find forever homes. Remiel The pictures below are after here wounds had healed. The other pictures of her the night it happened are very graphic and its amazing how well she is doing now.
We are located in Havelock, NC. We work with many other rescues in our area and abroad to achieve our goals to help as many dogs as we can.
We are always looking for fosters, sponsors and volunteers.
Remiel formally known as Olivia at the shelter needed a new name, a name that meant something so Remiel it is (Remi for short). Remiel means God’s mercy. For only being 2 ½ years old Remiel has been through a lot.
She was stolen from her first home along with her puppies, then stolen again, then thrown into the middle of a dog fight to be used as a bait dog. She did nothing but lay there. She was mauled by these two dogs. She was rescued by animal control and then stitched up by Doctor Westbrook at Newport Animal Clinic. She was then placed in the Carteret County Animal Shelter to heal. She did heal and you can hardly see her wounds. She is a loving dog and has shown no aggression, she even gets along with cats. D.O.G.S., Inc. pulled her and had her vet checked and she turned up positive for heartworms. She is such a sweet girl and has already been through so much and now must undergo heartworm treatment. Enough money was raised and Remiel is undergoing heartworm treatment. She is about 2 weeks into it and doing great. She will be spayed in the middle of August. Remiel is a wonderful dog, completely house and cratetrained, not destructive, loves all children (even babies, she lives with a 13 month old). She loves to wrestle with big and smaller dogs (she lives with a boxer and a mini dachshund). She has no food or toy aggression and also lives with a cat. She would make anyone a very special addition. If you are intersted in meeting Remiel please contact me for an application.
